The Hawk Creek Radio Observatory is the facility responsible for the discovery and naming of both Alpha and Beta. It is a SETI (Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence) facility funded by the Bertran Corporation. On September 16, 2037, two scientists named Trent and Gary picked up a radio signal coming from Mars, directed at the Plains of Nazca, Peru. Shortly thereafter, a second signal originating from Nazca and directed towards Mars was heard.("Eve Ate the Apple")
Following protocol, the scientists named Alpha and Beta in their order of discovery.
Presumably, the other 5 objects were discovered at this observatory.
